in Greek and Cypriot culture Κομπολόγια (in Greek) worry beads (in English) is a string of beads that usually men manipulate with one or two hands. Worry beads clicking together make noise, and can be used differently indoors or outdoors (quiet or noisier). It has many uses, like simply to pass time, or as an amulet to guard against bad luck, or by people who wish to limit smoking, and also as a mark of power and social prestige (depending of the beads which can be made of silver or amber…etc). Unlike the similar prayer beads used in many religious traditions, worry beads have no religious purpose.
